Conflict – running away or engaging effective strategies?

A half-day practical workshop to enhance your skills in conflict resolution

Wednesday 31st January 12.30 – 16.30 (includes a buffet lunch)

Recognise any of these: Avoider? Flamethrower? Zealot? Ideologue? Moderate? Pragmatic Opportunist?  Conciliator? Compromiser? Collaborator?

What kind of conflict modes do you prefer to use? What modes do those you have to deal with use? Do you need to be able to recognise others’ conflict strategies and develop a greater range of means of dealing with them?

We all have to deal with conflict, whether in the workplace or outside. Conflict is a common strategy for human beings so we tend to experience it regularly, even though we might really wish to avoid it. Our challenge is that we also tend to use the same old strategies to manage it, strategies that we have learned and used over many years – even when they don’t really work effectively!

This half-day workshop makes use of cutting edge psychological research to enable you to recognise the pros and cons of different conflict modes. It will enable you to spot what others are up to at an early stage and deal with them in an appropriate way.

During the workshop you will be able to:

Facilitator Keith E Rice, author of the acclaimed book ‘Knowing Me, Knowing You’, is an expert in the use of psychological models to facilitate conflict resolution. He trained with Dr Don Beck (who was involved in bringing the South African crisis of the early 1990s to a peaceful solution) and has helped resolve a wide range of conflict situations, ranging from boardroom disputes to divorcing couples.
