Leeds City Council – Adult & Community Learning Service
The ACLS is seeking proposals for courses of learning that will enable it to meet the commitments it has set out in the Council’s post-16 education 3 Year Development Plan 2005/08. These will also need to contribute towards meeting the funding requirements of the LSC. This curriculum will be informed from a number of sources, including:
- 21st Century Skills - Skills Strategy White Paper
- Skills: Getting on in business, getting on in work - 2nd Skills Strategy Paper
- Every Child Matters: change for children
- Mental Health and Social Inclusion - Report by the Social Exclusion Unit (June 2004)
- the Leeds Learning Partnership Plan
- the Learning and Skills Council Annual Plan 2005/06
- the ACLS Self Assessment Report
- LSC National Curriculum priorities
Providers are reminded:
- evening ‘leisure’ based provision which is not targeted will not be supported by Council funds;
- all work in day centres needs to be checked with the ACLS before it is agreed (in order to avoid duplication);
- keep fit and yoga type of provision will only be supported in community priority areas where there is no local access to a leisure centre;
- evening provision in curriculum areas which can readily be accredited will not be supported.
