Social Enterprise Link Network Update

Hello, just wanted to give you an update on the Social Enterprise Link Networks. The networks have been really popular and we have already had over 1000 people sign up to become members. We have had a really busy year for events, with over 450 members attending the network events.  We are currently devising the events plan for this year and will be sending information out about these shortly, alternatively check out our events diary on http://www.sesc.info/

Networks

Last year we had ten networks but we have decided to merge them into six sector specific networks.  I will be contacting you in the next few weeks to confirm which networks you want to be members off.  The six networks will be:

1.)    Community Arts

2.)    Community Services

3.)    Environment and Recycling

4.)    Health and Social Care

5.)    Housing and Construction

6.)    Young People’s Services

Newsletters

The network newsletters will now be sent out bi-monthly.  Thank you for all the content that you sent me last year, I look forward to receiving your news this year.  The sort of information I would like sending could include:

The newsletters are an opportunity to share information with other members in our region.  Members are not just other social enterprises they include procurers, and funders so they are an opportunity to promote your organisation.

Forthcoming Events

Project Management

There are still a few places on the Level 3 Accredited Project Management course we are running with Wakefield College.  The course starts on Thursday May 3rd and is every Thursday for five weeks.

Coaching and Mentoring

Are you interested in becoming a mentor, if so this is the course for you.  The course is being run in Wakefield and Bradford and last for four days.  The first two days of the course take place at the end of May.

Health and Social Care Networking Event – May 16th 9.30 – 1pm

Working with vulnerable people and trip to Care link, Wakefield.

This networking event will look at customer care and developing staff with a particular emphasis to those working with vulnerable members of the community.

Community Arts Trade Show – July 3rd – Carlisle Business Centre

Are you interested in working with the arts sector, or perhaps you are an arts organization wishing to promote the services you offer.  There will be case studies, exhibitions, advice and a variety of workshops.

Are you a Community Arts Based Organisation?

We would like to hear your views about some ideas that we are investigating. The ideas were suggested by members at the networking events we held last year and we hope to develop them further.  They say two heads are better than one so we would really value your opinions and involvement.  The ideas are a central resource centre for the hire of equipment and scenery, this idea originated when we were discussing the cost of putting on productions, especially for smaller voluntary, community and youth groups. It was also suggested due to the waste that was created in the sector there is potential for the re-use of scenery, costumes and other related equipment.

For further information about these events please contact Rachel.oddie@sesc.info or have a look at the event diary on http://www.sesc.info/

I look forward to hearing from you

Kindest regards
