Disadvantaged Area Fund 2007-2008
The Government is committed to tackling unemployment and poverty in deprived areas and to working in partnership with private and voluntary sector providers to achieve this. Jobcentre Plus is currently finalising the arrangements for delivering additional support and activity in deprived areas through the new Deprived Areas Fund (DAF). The opportunities available through the use of DAF will help us to work closer with local partners to offer workless people the help they need to overcome barriers to work
The DAF can be used to help people living in some of the most deprived areas of Bradford. These are, Bowling, Bradford Moor, Little Horton, Toller, Tong, Undercliffe and University wards.
Details regarding opportunities to tender for the delivery of DAF provision will be on the Jobcentre Plus website from early March http://www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk/JCP/Partners/Opportunitiestotender/index.html
This is the only way that information on these opportunities will be made available.
We look forward to working with local partners on what it is a real opportunity to tackle worklessness in the areas that need it most.

iT4Communities - Introducing Volunteer IT Professionals to Charities Needing IT Help
VCS organisations are becoming increasingly reliant on IT to deliver and support their activities. There is a definite need for greater understanding and efficient use of IT in order to fully exploit the potential offered. To address this need iT4Communities (iT4C) introduces IT professional volunteers to charities and community groups needing IT help.
Since it was formed in 2002 it has enlisted around 4,000 skilled IT volunteers and over 1,600 organisations across the country have registered for help. In total £2m worth of IT projects have been delivered to charities and community groups who would not otherwise be able to afford to pay for these services.
iT4C may be able to help your organisation by matching up a skilled volunteer to your IT requirements. Volunteers can help with anything from planning an IT strategy, networking and web site design to database design and programming.
iT4C is a member of The ICT Hub: a consortium of voluntary sector organisations who have come together to plan and deliver a coordinated framework of ICT guidance, good practice, advice and support for voluntary and community organisations, accessible at a local level. All services are free.
iT4C also promotes volunteering among IT Professionals and companies and can provide speakers for your events and free IT volunteering workshops
