Funding

Disadvantaged Area Fund 2007-2008

The Government is committed to tackling unemployment and poverty in deprived areas and to working in partnership with private and voluntary sector providers to achieve this. Jobcentre Plus is currently finalising the arrangements for delivering additional support and activity in deprived areas through the new Deprived Areas Fund (DAF). The opportunities available through the use of DAF will help us to work closer with local partners to offer workless people the help they need to overcome barriers to work

The DAF can be used to help people living in some of the most deprived areas of Bradford. These are, Bowling, Bradford Moor, Little Horton, Toller, Tong, Undercliffe and University wards.

Details regarding opportunities to tender for the delivery of DAF provision will be on the Jobcentre Plus website from early March (http://www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk/JCP/Partners/Opportunitiestotender/index.html ).  This is the only way that information on these opportunities will be made available.

Head Over Heels in Diversity - Conference2007

Monday, 19th March 2007 — 9.00 am – 3.30 pm — Cedar Court Hotel, Bradford.

This conference is an opportunity for all those involved in enterprise to discuss ideas and good practice; to keep up to date with advances in how to engage with the business sector delivering the Diversity Message.

It will bring together all those involved in enterprise and diversity – practitioners delivering business support and diversity services such as academic staff, business experts and mentors, but also including policy-makers, consultants, developers, education researchers, and of course enterprising people.

Diversity is becoming a key item on the agenda nationally, as organisations are required to manage and value a wide variety of employees and customers. A major challenge for enterprises today is to attract and retain skilled workers. Working with minority suppliers, embracing the diverse backgrounds of employees and reaching out to all communities are not just the right things to do; they are also parts of a successful business. In order to realise this, we must embrace diversity - in our workforce, in our partnerships and in our communities.

1. Keynote Speakers - Thea Stein, Executive Director of People – Yorkshire Forward and Louella Eastman, Group Diversity Director, Aviva

2. Entertaining Diversity Presentation
