Like any business idea it needs to be viable – the numbers stack up and show the business will make some money. It needs to be sustainable – the market is of a size that will allow the business to grow.

For business, sustainability is about ensuring long-term business success while contributing towards economic and social development, a healthy environment and a stable society.

So your initial thoughts should consider how your business idea will work. Where the income will come from, who your stakeholders are (anyone who has an effect on us and we have an effect on them) and start to set down your thinking in a Business Plan. We can help with that.

You will need to set up a company and you have a choice of legal form for social enterprise. Make the decisions about what should be done? Who will be on the board and We can help with this too. We won’t tell you what legal form you need but we will explain the options so that you can make your own decisions.

Other things you will need to think about are what will be community of interest, what social benefits do want to deliver and how will you know when you are doing that?
